-r
}
Ms. Wendy Cohen
April 18, 1996
Page 2
Soil samples will be obtained for chemical analyses from the capillary fringe and the boring
terminus. Additional samples may be collected based on field observations.
Soil and groundwater samples will be analyzed for diesel-range (extractable; C10 - C23) and
gasoline range (purgeable; C4 - C 2) petroleum hydrocarbons by GC-FID and for BTEX using
USEPA Method 8020. Samples will not be filtered; however, silica gel clean-up procedures will
be performed on the extractable samples (diesel-range petroleum hydrocarbons) to eliminate
positive interferences from non-petroleum hydrocarbons. Recommendations will be made to the
analytical laboratory with respect to separation of the solvent peak from analytes peaks.
Analytical quantitation limits will be in accordance with the RWQCB's Tri-Regional
Recommendations.
Soil samples will be obtained for chemical analyses from the capillary fringe and the boring
terminus. Additional samples may be collected based on field observations. Soil samples will be
analyzed for diesel-range (extractable; Cio- C23) and gasoline range (purgeable; C4 - Cie)
petroleum hydrocarbons by GC-FID and for BTEX using USEPA Method 8020.
The installation and sampling of well MW-25 will be in lieu of sampling existing wells MW-13,
MW-16, MW-17, MW-18 and MW-19. The rational for eliminating these well from additional
sampling in based on the following:
• Stable conditions, have been exhibited in well MW-13 through previous sampling events..
Wells MW-16 and MW-18 are upgradient of well MW-20 and down gradient of well MW- .
13. Well MW-20 has not exhibiteddetectable levels of petroleum hydrocarbons over the last
four monitoring events.
• Wells MW-17 and MW-19 are slightly cross gradient to well MW-13. -
Well installation procedures will be conducted on Friday, April 19, 1996 and well
development/groundwater sampling the week of April 22, 1996. Another sampling event will be
conducted during the week of May 27, 1996.
3) Geologic Cross Section .
The geologic cross section previously submitted in Geomatrix's Submittal of Items Requested by
RWQCB in Support of SiteElosure, dated February 28, 1996,will be revised to include existing
analytical data from soil, and groundwater and high and low groundwater table elevations that
have existed since well installation..
4) Remaining Soil Contamination
Request fulfilled with documents submitted earlier.
II
