The locations of <br /> the former gasoline USTs are shown on Figure 2. <br /> O <br /> PURPOSE AND PROPOSED WORKSCOPE <br /> r The purpose of this site investigation is to determine if the soil and groundwater under the site <br /> L• has been impacted by the former USTs. To achieve this goal the following scope of work is <br /> proposed: <br /> • Permit and install three groundwater monitoring wells; <br /> • Analyze selected soil samples for total petroleum hydrocarbons as gasoline (TPHg), and <br /> r benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene and xylenes (BTEX); <br /> L <br /> • Survey and develop the new wells, purge and collect samples from the monitoring wells; <br /> • Prepare a Preliminary Site Assessment (PSA) report. <br /> The workplan below describes in detail each of the tasks to be completed to determine impact <br /> on the soil and groundwater at the site from the former USTs on the site. All work described <br /> in this workplan will be performed in accordance with SMTH's Quality Assurance/Quality <br /> Control Plan presented in Appendix'II and with the Site Safety Plan presented in Appendix III. <br /> WORKPLAN <br /> Task 1 -Permitting and Scheduling <br /> r This task includes obtaining the necessary permits -for drilling and well installation from <br /> �+ SJCPHS, scheduling field personnel and equipment, locating underground utilities, and <br /> performing any other necessary field preparation and job start-up activities. Permit applications <br /> and associated fees are contained in Appendix IV. <br /> Task 2 - Installation of Three Groundwater Monitoring Wells <br /> Three soil borings will be advanced to depths of approximately 25 feet using 10-inch O.D. <br /> hollow stem augers.
