PUBLIC HEALTH SERVICES OPuIM C
SAN JOAQUIN COUNTY
JOGI KHANNA M.D.,M.P.H. `
Health Officer
oR!F o•paP
P.O. Box 2009 . (1601 East Hazelton Avenue) . Stockton, California 95201
(209) 468-3400
October 25, 1990
Don Lewis, Vice President
Interland Corporation
1477 Drew St.
Davis, CA 95616
RE: 8715 W. Grantline Rd. IN REPLY REFER TO SITE CODE: 2287
Tracy, CA
The reports entitled "Soil Excavation and Aeration for Interland
Corporation" dated October 19, 1990 and "Soil and Groundwater
Investigation for Orchard Supply Hardware" dated June 7 , 1990,
combined, satisfy the investigative definition of a Preliminary
Report and a Soil Remediation Proposal. (Appendix A, Tri-Regional
Recommendations, April 3 , 1989, revision. ) Soil removed during the
July 23 , 1990 excavation and aerated for placement back into the
excavation pit appears to have been the most cost effective
remediation procedure for this site.
Residual volatile hydrocarbon contaminants remain in the excavation
at sampling point:
ME-1 23 ppb toluene
83 ppb ethylbenzene
. 3 ppm xylenes
150 ppm THP--gasoline
1, 100 ppm oil and grease
MN-2 Results for 418 . 1 were not included in Table 3
The residual contaminants left in place at the soil/groundwater
interface must be addressed during the Problem Assessment Report
(PAR) . Site certification can only occur when determination has
been made by Public Health Services, Environmental Health Division
(PHS/EHD) and Central Valley Regional Water Quality Control Board
(CVRWQCB) that the residual contaminants will not pose a threat to
groundwater. (LUFT Manual, Leaching Potential Analyses)
A Division of San Joaquin County Health Care Services
