Fourth Quarter 1997 Monitoring and Sampling Report 2
The Southland Corporation,Store#20304,455 Grant lane Rd.,TTq,CA February 12,1998
the well was purged dry. f=ield measurements of temperature, conductivity, dissolved oxygen (D.O.),and
+•w pH were recorded during well purging_ The groundwater samples were collected using disposable bailers
and placed in analysis-specific sample containers with analysis-specific preservatives. The samples were
then sealed and labeled with the job identification number, the sample number, date, time, and type of
laboratory analysis required. The samples were stored on ice in an insulated container and transported
under chain-of-custody manifest to West Analytical Laboratory,in Davis,California. The groundwater
samples were analyzed for BTEX, MTBE and TPH-G using Environmental Protection Agency(EPA)
methods 8020/modified 8015,and for oxygenates:MTBE,TBA,DIPE, ETRE,and TAME using EPA method
8260. Groundwater purged during the fourth quarter monitoring and sampling event was pumped through
the groundwater extraction system.
V
Dissolved benzene and TPH-G were detected in groundwater samples from monitoring wells MW-8,MW-9
and MW-10 with highest concentrations reported in MW-10 at 8,200 micrograms per liter(pg/L)and 32,000
pg/L,respectively(Figure 3). Using EPA method 8260,dissolved MTBE was reported in well MW-9 at 8.2
pg/L. Highest dissolved TBA concentration was reported in well MW-9 at 760 pg/L.DIPE, ETRE,and
TAME were not detected in any wells. Analytical results from the groundwater samples collected on
November 11, 1997 are presented in Table 1,and historical analytical results are summarized in Table 1A.
The laboratory analytical reports and the chain-of-custody records for this sampling event are included in
. Attachment 4.
Please contact Fluor Daniel GTI's Martinez office at(510)370-3990 if you have any questions or comments
4" regarding this report.
Sincerely,
Fluor Daniel GTI,Inc.
