KARFIOL:
r
Groundwater samples were collected on April 25, 1989 by the Technical and
Ecological Services' Water Resources Unit from six groundwater monitoring
wells (OW-1 through OW-6) located at PG&E's Tracy Service Center.. The
service center is located at 502 East Grantline Road in Tracy. The
monitoring well locations are indicated on the attached site map.
The groundwater samples were analyzed by Eureka Laboratories of Sacramento,
California for total petroleum hydrocarbons (modified EPA method 8015),
aromatic volatile organics (modified EPA method 602) , and total lead (EPA
method 200.7) within allowable holding times. Travel blank and method
blank samples were analyzed by the same methods for quality control. A
copy of the laboratory data sheets is enclosed.
Lead was not detected in any of the monitoring well samples. Well OW-2 was
the only monitoring well which had detectable amounts of petroleum hydro-
carbons or aromatic volatile organics. This is consistent with the
analytical results from the previous sampling effort performed in
December, 1988.
Table 1 shows the laboratory results for groundwater samples collected from
well OW-2 in April 1989. Laboratory results for groundwater samples
collected in January 1988 and December 1988 are also provided for
comparison. Gasoline hydrocarbons were detected in the samples collected
from well OW-2 in April 1989 at 1.2 milligrams per liter (mg/1) ; benzene
was detected at 1540 micrograms per liter (ug/1) ; ethylbenzene was detected
at 95 ug/l; toluene was detected at 22 ug/l; and xylenes were detected at
11 ug/l.
Water level measurements collected in April 1989 suggest that the hydraulic
gradient at the site is relatively unchanged, and groundwater in the upper-
most water-bearing zone beneath the site continues to flow north-northeast.
Please call me if you have questions concerning this data, or require
additional work at the Tracy site.
ERIC P.
