The level of contamination in this well is Iower now than when it was installed in
1989. For the past two quarters the well sampling results have been ND for TPH-g and BTEX.
The results from the soil samples collected at the time the tank was removed have never been submitted to
PHS/EHD and the condition of the soil returned to the tank excavation is not known.
It appears that a resolution to long term monitoring may be close at hand. If the residual soil contamination is not
a threat to groundwater quality then closure could be considered. If residual soil contamination is a threat to
groundwater quality then PHS/EHD recommends that you over excavate and remove all contaminated soil and
perform confirmatory ground water sampling for a quick resolution to the contamination problem which currently
exists at this site.
A work plan for the investigation and possible over excavation and confirmatory groundwater sampling of the
former UST location should be submitted to this agency by November 15, 1995.
For additional information, please contact Steven Sasson at (209) 468-3459.
Donna Heran, REHS, Director
Environmental Health Division
Steven Sasson, eniorEHS Diane M.
