INTRODUCTION
This submittal outlines Aqua Science Engineer's, Inc. (ASE) workplan for a
L. soil and groundwater assessment at 574 West Grant Line Road in Tracy,
California (Figure 1). The proposed site assessment activities were
initiated by Mr. J. Benjamin McGrew, Receiver for the Superior Court. Mr.
+- McGrew, as an officer of the Superior Court, was nominated and confirmed
to this case by CivicBank of Commerce, as plaintiff in the civil case against
LM Lester C. Scott and Betty L. Scott, property owners.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION
The site is currently a UNOCAL Service Station with three (3) 8,000 gallon
gasoline underground storage tanks (USTs) piped to four dispensers
• (Figure 2). According to information supplied to ASE by the San Joaquin
County Environmental Health Division (SJCEHD), the USTs were lined by
Armor Shield in 1986; however, the product lines and dispensers were not
' upgraded at the same time. To date, the subsurface soil and groundwater
beneath the site has not been assessed.
Lo
On March 6, 1998, ASE senior project manager David Allen visited the
SJCEHD to review files for two neighboring service stations in an effort to
I" determine groundwater flow direction and their current environmental
status. The two sites reviewed are the BP service station located at 2375
Tracy Boulevard (west of the subject site), and the former Chevron service
'm station located at 575 Grant Line Road (north of the subject site).
BP SERVICE STATION
Beginning in 1990, the BP service station (formerly Mobil), located across
Tracy Boulevard, installed fourteen (14) groundwater monitoring wells on
LN and off-site. Some time after the wells were installed, a pump and treat
remediation system was installed at the site to remediate contaminated
groundwater. This system was turned-off several years ago based on
information supplied to ASE by the SJCEHD. Based on the recent file
review, the groundwater at this site is currently monitored periodically.
Monitoring wells on this site contain detectable concentrations of total
L. petroleum hydrocarbons as gasoline (TPH-G), benzene, toluene,
ethylbenzene and total xylenes (collectively known as BTEX) and methyl
tertiary butyl ether (MTBE). The groundwater flow direction at this site
has been consistently toward the northwest.
L' 574 Grant Line Road, Tracy Assessment Workplan - March 1998
-1-
L
