CAMBRIA
service station is located to the south, and an active Valero service station is located to the
southwest of the subject site.
The 7-Eleven site is an active environmental case overseen by the SJCEHD. 'SECOR issued a
t
site investigation report for the 7-Eleven site on September 30, 2004. SECOR reported that
methyl tertiary butyl ether (MTBE) from the 7-Eleven site has migrated to the north and
northwest,beneath the Shell site.
Previous investigations .
k
January 2003 Well Installation: As part of Shell's voluntary Groundwater Assessment Program
(GRASP), KHM.installed four groundwater monitoring wells (MW-1 through MW4) at the
subject site during January 2003. Groundwater samples collected from these wells contained
MTBE at concentrations ranging;from 0.69 to 730 parts per billion (ppb). After discovery of
MTBE in groundwater beneath this site, Shell submitted an Unauthorized Release Report on
March 25,2003.
t November 2004 Dispenser Replacements: Cambria collected native soil samples from beneath 401
the former dispensers at depths of approximately 5 to 8 feet below grade(fbg). Total petroleum
hydrocarbons as gasoline (TPHg) was detected in two soil samples at concentrations of 1.9 and
340 parts per million (ppm). Benzene was detected in two soil samples at concentrations of 0.6I
and 0.011 ppm. Total petroleum hydrocarbons as diesel(TPHd)was detected in two soil samples
at concentrations of.11 and 33 ppm. MTBE was detected in six soil samples at concentrations
ranging from 0.018 to 0.44 ppm. Tertiary butyl alcohol (TBA) was detected in five soil samples
at concentrations ranging . from 0.011 to 0.020 ppm. No other fuel. oxygenates,
i 1,2-dichloroethane, or ethylene dibromide were detected in soil samples collected from beneath
the dispensers. These activities were documented in Cambria' January 20, 2005 Dispenser
Upgrade Sampling Report.
November 2004 Sensitive Receptor Survey: Cambria performed a sensitive receptor survey in
the vicinity of the subject site. In the Sensitive Receptor Survey Report and Site Investigation
Work Plan submitted November .18, 2004, Cambria identified two domestic water wells
approximately 1 300 feet southwest and 1900 feet east of the site. These wells area approximately
PP Y PP Y
JL 220 and 180 feet deep and screened from 195-220 and 157-177 fbg, respectively.
i
Included in the November 18, 2004 report was the results of a well survey performed by SECOR
{ for the 7-Eleven site. Five private wells'were identified by SECOR on Corral Hollow Road
t
1661 2
r:
