The borings were located <br /> on the north, south, and west sides of the UST to <br /> evaluate soil quality adjacent to the'tank. Due to drill <br /> rig access limitations, a soil boring was not drilled <br /> on ,the east side of the tank." Boring locations are <br /> presented in Figure 2, and `drilling and sampling <br /> protocols are discussed in Appendix A. <br /> Beneath the asphalt and baserock layer which was 2.2 Subsurface <br /> approximately 1 foot thick in all borings, the Mates <br /> uppermost stratum (Stratum A) encountered <br /> I; <br /> consisted of approximately.3 feet of dark gray silty <br /> clay. Immediately underlying this stratum was an <br /> approximately 1-foot thick stratum of brown <br /> gravelly sand with minor silt'.(Stratum B).
