3. RESULTS
• 3.1 Soil
During this investigation, a total of 20 soil samples were analyzed for TPHd and TPHg The
analytical results are presented in Table 1, and Figures 3, 5, and 6 A list of samples
' submitted to the laboratories and their results are presented on Table 1 and Figure 3
Fourteen of these samples were non-detect for TPHd and TPHg, whereas five samples
contained TPHd and four contained TPHg
The sample from boring HA-2 collected at a depth of 28 ft bgs (HA-2-28) exhibited a TPHd
concentration of 330 milligrams per kilogram (mg/kg) Soil samples from boring HA-8
' collected from depths of 10 and 20 ft bgs contained TPHd concentrations of 490 and 690
mg/kg, respectively The soil sample collected from boring HA-9 at a depth of 25 ft bgs
contained a TPHd concentration of 1,500 mg/kg TPHd was detected in a soil sample from
' the tank excavation area (TANK-EX) at a depth of 5 ft bgs at a concentration of 29 mg/kg,
whereas the 10-foot sample was non-detect for TPHd and TPHg
TPHg was detected in samples from boring HA-8 at depths of 10, 20, and 30 ft bgs at
concentrations of 3 3, 37, and 0 75 mg/kg, respectively A soil sample from HA-9 at a depth
of 25 ft bgs contained a TPHg concentration of 660 mg/kg (Table 1)
During previous investigations, a total of 30 soil samples were analyzed for TPHd, TPHg,
and benzene, toluene, xylenes, and ethylbenzene (BTEX) Selected samples were also
analyzed for fuel oxygenates and lead Nineteen of these samples were non-detect for TPHd,
TPHg, BTEX, and fuel oxygenates, whereas eleven samples contained TPHd, nine contained
TPHg, and two contained BTEX constituents The TPHd, TPHg, and BTEX detects were
reported at MW-2, MW-3, MW-4, SB-1, and SB-2
3.2 Groundwater
' During this investigation, a total of seven groundwater hydropunch samples were analyzed for
TPHg and TPHd The analytical results are presented in Table 2 and Figure 4 The
groundwater sample from HA-2 contained a TPHd concentration of 7,500 ug/L No other
sample had detectable concentrations of TPHg or TPHd
During previous investigations, a total of 12 groundwater hydropunch or grab samples were
' analyzed for TPHd, TPHg, and BTEX Selected samples were also analyzed for fuel
oxygenates and lead Six of these samples were non-detect for TPHd, TPHg, BTEX, and fuel
oxygenates, whereas two samples contained TPHd (SB-2 and SB-4), three samples contained
' TPHg (SB-1 through SB-3), and two samples contained a trace amount of benzene (both from
SB-12)
During the quarterly groundwater sampling event in June 2002, groundwater samples were
collected from monitoring wells MW-1, and MW-3 through MW-6 Monitoring well MW-2
was not sampled due to the presence of free product Groundwater samples were analyzed for
' TPHg, TPHd, and BTEX Groundwater samples from monitoring wells MW-3 and MW-4
had concentrations of TPHd at 67 and 120 ug/L, respectively MW-1, MW-5, and MW-6
were non-detect for all analytes
7
