FIELD PROCEDURES
All field procedures will be overseen by H&H and/or AGE representatives, and supervised by a
California Registered Geologist
4 1 MONITORING WELL ABANDONMENT
Monitoring well MW-2(Figure 2)will be abandoned utilizing a truck-mounted drill rig equipped with
hollow stem augers The well will be over-drilled from surface grade to total depth The boring will
be backfilled to surface grade using Type IIII portland neat cement and not more than 6 gallons of
water per 94-pound sack of cement
. i
i
42 SOIL EXCAVATION PROCEDURES
 1
Section 4 2 lists procedures for soil excavation, sampling, backfilling, and equipment
decontamination
4 2 1 Soil Excavation and Shoring
c
The soil will be excavated to a maximum depth of 25 feet bsg using an excavator and stockpiled on-
site, covered by a plastic tarp, since the depth relative to the excavation width of approximately
25 feet necessitates steep sidewalls, shoring of sidewalls will be required The shoring will consist
of sheet piling installed with a vibratory driver prior to excavation, the installation will be performed
' by a licenced shoring company
The excavated soil will be segregated into overburden containing less than 500 mg/kg TPH and
' impacted soil containing more than 500 mg/kg TPH The overburden has been delineated by soil
analytical results from previous site investigations to be approximately 506 cubic yards(67 5-foot by
20-foot area, 10-foot depth), and will be utilized to backfill the excavation Soil containing greater
' than 500 mg/kg TPH will be disposed to a licensed landfill An OVM will be utilized to guide
overburden determination
Prior to disposal, the hydrocarbon-impacted soil will be characterized by a DHS-certified laboratory
After soil characterization, trucks will be utilized to transport the waste material for proper disposal
' The open excavation area will be surrounded by temporary fencing No AGE,H&H or subcontractor
personnel will be allowed into any excavation greater than five feet bsg until proper excavation
' Advanced GcoEnvlronmental,Inc
r
