15 June 2009
AGE-NC Project No.05-1306
Page 21 of 33
greater than eight consecutive rounds were broken down into groupings of eight consecutive data
sets with the focus being on the most recent set of eight rounds being tested.Wells with appropriate
historical data where this test was performed are identical to the wells utilized in the Mann-Kendall
k,.
test including:
• MW-3 (thirty six rounds of data total from 14 August 1998 to 05 March 2009 with a range
of thirty four TPH-d detections from <50 gg/l to 30,000 gg/l and a range of five TPH-g
detections from 120 µg11 to 1,400 µg11);
• MW-4 (thirty rounds of data total from 07 June 2000 to 05 March 2009 with a range of
t. twenty eight TPH-d detections from 78 gg/l to 23,000 gg/l and a range of six TPH-g
detections from 110 µg11 to 940 µg11);
,r • MW-5 (twenty seven rounds from 07 June 2000 to 05 March 2009 with a range of fourteen
TPH-d detections from 55 µg/l to 170 µg/l with no test for TPH-g since all results indicated
non-detect);
• MW-6(twenty six rounds from 13 July 2000 to 05 March 2009 with a range of three TPH-d
detections from 60 gg/l to 170 µg11 with no test for TPH-g since all results indicated
non-detect); and
• MW-7 (twenty one rounds from 03 June 2004 to 05 March 2009 with a range of nineteen
TPH-d detections from 78 µg11 to 520 gg/l with no test for TPH-g since all results indicated
non-detect).
s.
6.2.2. Results of the Mann-Whitney U Test
.• Test results for MW-3 indicate a"decreasing trend"at the 90 percent confidence level for both TPH-
d and TPH-g when considering results from 14 August 1998 through 07 June 2000 (first group of
eight rounds) with a U statistic of 0.0. Results from 07 June 2000 through 10 December 2008 (in
four separate groupings of eight rounds each group with an overlap of five rounds from
13 February 2007 to 05 March 2009 in the final group of eight rounds) indicate "no trend" at the
90 percent confidence level for both TPH-d and TPH-g. The U statistic relative to TPH-d ranges
from 4.0 to 12.5 and relative to TPH-g ranges from 6.0 to 8.0. Historically, TPH-g was detected a
total of five times, so most values were entered as zeros. Toluene has been detected two times and
xylenes have only been detected a single time dating back to 1998 so statistical tests were not run
concerning these constituents and neither benzene nor ethylbenzene have been detected in this well
historically.
Test results for MW-4 indicate a"decreasing trend"at the 90 percent confidence level for TPH-d and
"no trend"for TPH-g when considering results from 07 June 2000 through 01 April 2002(first group
Advanced GeoEnvironmental,Inc.
