` The wastewater from well purging and free-phase hydrocarbon product will be placed in
55-gallon drums and stored on site pending analytical results. If needed, Woodward-Clyde will
dispose of the water and the free-phase hydrocarbon product off site.
V
B.3 MONITORING WELL INSTALLATION
. Some of the soil borings may be completed as groundwater monitoring wells. To complete a
boring as a groundwater monitoring well, the boring will be advanced ten feet beyond the depth
of the groundwater table. Approximately one foot of filter sand will then be placed in the
►. bottom of the boring. A new 2-inch-diameter Schedule 40 PVC casing will be placed in the
boring. The PVC casing will be equipped with an end cap and the lower twenty feet will be
slotted. Filter sand will be backfilled around the casing to approximately 5 feet above the top
of the screened interval. A three-foot seal of hydrated bentonite pellets will be placed on top
of the filter sand pack. The remainder of the annulus will be backfilled with a cementfbentonite
slurry to approximately two feet below ground surface. Concrete grout will be used to finish
the well and set a wellhead vault with a traffic rated cover.
B.4 EQUIPMENT DECONTAMINATION PROCEDURES
V
Groundwater and soil sampling equipment will be decontaminated between sampling events using
the following procedure:
1. Wash with Liquinox and water, assisted with brush
2. Rinse with deionized water,
3. Second rinse with deionized water
4. Dry with paper towels or drip dry.
Drill augers and rods will be steam-cleaned prior to drilling each boring. The drill rig will be
steam cleaned prior to initiation of drilling activities.
B.5 SAMPLE LABELING
`' All sample labels will be filled out with indelible ink and uniquely numbered. Soil samples
collected in stainless steel or brass liners will be capped immediately following collection.
Labels may be partially completed prior to sample collection. The date, time, sampler's initials,
` and the sample identification number should not be completed until the time of sample
collection. At a minimum, each numbered label shall contain the following information:
• Project name
' Sampler's company affiliation
,. Date and time of sample collection
— B-3
