• Sampler's initials <br /> V <br /> • Sample identification number <br /> • Analyses required <br /> V <br /> • Preservatives used. <br /> B.6 SAMPLE HANDLING <br /> B.6.1 Sampling Containers <br /> The glass jars for grab soil samples and groundwater samples will be new and supplied by the <br /> laboratory. The tubes will be new or cleaned in Woodward-Clyde's laboratory and stored in <br /> resealable plastic bags prior to use at the site. New end caps will be used. Used tubes at the <br /> site may be cleaned according to the equipment decontamination procedures and reused. <br /> B.6.2 Sample Preservation <br /> All soil and groundwater samples will be placed on ice or an ice substitute in a portable, <br /> ` insulated cooler immediately following sample collection. Soil and soil gas samples do not <br /> require additional preservation. Preservations for groundwater samples will added to the sample <br /> • containers by the laboratory. <br /> V <br /> B.7 SAMPLE PACKAGING AND SHIPPING <br /> Sample containers will be placed in resealable plastic storage bags. Samples will then be placed <br /> in a cooler with ice or ice substitute for shipment to the laboratory. The drain on the cooler <br /> shall be taped shut. Samples will be shipped by courier for delivery to the analytical laboratory. <br /> A completed chain-of-custody form for each cooler will be placed in a resealable plastic bag and <br /> taped to the inside of the cooler lid. Coolers will be wrapped with strapping tape at two <br /> ►- locations to secure lids. Numbered and signed custody seals shall be placed on the outside of <br /> each cooler. <br /> B.8 SAMPLE DOCUMENTATION AND TRACKING <br /> B.8.1 Field Notes <br /> • Documentation of observations and data acquired in the field will provide information on the <br /> ` acquisition of samples and also provide a permanent record of field activities. The observations <br /> and data will be recorded with indelible ink in a permanently bound weatherproof field book <br /> with consecutively numbered pages and, if applicable, on field sampling data sheets. <br /> �- B-4 <br />
