HORIZON ENVIRONMENTAL, INC. <br /> Specialists in Site Assessment Remedial Testing Design and Operation <br /> January 29, 2004 <br /> Mr Joe Aldridge <br /> Ultramar Inc <br /> 685 West Third Street <br /> Hanford, California 93230 <br /> Subject Quarterly Groundwater Monitoring Report <br /> Fourth Quarter 2003 <br /> Beacon Station No 3641 <br /> 1210 East Hammer Lane, Stockton, California <br /> Mr Aldridge <br /> Horizon Environmental Inc (Horizon) has prepared this report which documents results of <br /> fourth quarter 2003 groundwater monitoring at the subject site located in San Joaquin County <br /> as shown on Figure 1 There are seven groundwater monitoring wells (MW-1 through MW- <br /> 7), eight vapor wells (VW-1 through VW-8) and one sparge well (SW-1) associated with the <br /> site (Figure 2) The off-site monitoring well MW-8 was destroyed on April 11, 2003 because <br /> of road construction on Hammer Lane <br /> • Groundwater Monitoring <br /> Groundwater monitoring activities were conducted by Doulos Environmental Company <br /> (Doulos) on December 30, 2003 according to Ultramar Field Procedures (Attachment A) <br /> Monitoring activities included measurement of static groundwater level, purging groundwater <br /> from the wells, collection of groundwater samples, and preparation and delivery of the <br /> samples to the analytical laboratory <br /> The depth to groundwater was measured to the nearest 0 01 foot from the tap-of-casing <br /> (TQC) in monitoring wells MW-1 through MW-7 and sparge well SW-1 Vapor wells VW- <br /> 2, VW-4, VW-5 and VW-8 were dry The physical parameters conductivity, pH and <br /> temperature of the groundwater were monitored with field instrumentation during the purging <br /> process The visual characteristics of the groundwater were also noted during the purging <br /> process Field groundwater level and purge data were recorded on the Doulos Groundwater <br /> Level Data and Sampling Information Sheets (Attachment B) <br /> Groundwater samples were collected from the wells MW-2, MW-4, MW-6 and VW-7 The <br /> groundwater samples were submitted, under chain-of-custody documentation, to Kiff <br /> Analytical (Kiff), a California-certified analytical laboratory (ELAP No 2236) located in <br /> Davis, California and were analyzed for total petroleum hydrocarbons as gasoline (TPHg), <br /> the volatile aromatic compounds benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene and total xylenes (BTEX), <br /> 5011 Golden Foothill Parkway Suite 7 - EI Dorado Hills CA 95762 - (916) 939-2170 * FAX (916) 939-2172 <br /> PO Box 5283 * Bakersfield CA 93388 9 (661) 589-8389 - FAX (661) 589-1456 <br />
