Beacon Station No 3641 September 9, 2002 <br /> Stockton,California Work Plan <br /> ` In the interim prior to completion of the delineation phase and completion of a final <br /> • corrective action plan, Horizon proposes to initiate soil vapor extraction for remediation of <br /> the impacted vadose zone As indicated by previously completed remedial testing, soil <br /> vapor extraction has been shown effective in removing vadose zone hydrocarbons from the <br /> site subsurface Interim soil remediation would reduce the threat to off-site sensitive <br /> groundwater receptors and would likely reduce the final cost for remediation Additional <br /> groundwater delineation and interim soil remediation work phases are also described below <br /> Delineation Phase <br /> The delineation phase shall utilize cone-penetrometer (CPT) equipment to facilitate <br /> collection of soil, groundwater and stratigraphic data Data from this phase shall be used to <br /> site additional groundwater monitoring wells <br /> Task 1 Attempt to obtain an off-site access agreement from the property owner(s) to <br /> the west of the site, select and schedule drilling contractor, obtain well permits <br /> from the SJCEHD, prepare a site-specific safety plan, notify Underground <br /> Service Alert (USA) <br /> Task 2 Advance CPT borings at five locations (CPT-1 through CPT-5) as shown on <br /> Figure 3 The borings shall facilitate the evaluation of the vertical and lateral <br /> extent of petroleum hydrocarbon impacts to soil and groundwater, and site <br /> stratigraphy <br /> Boring CPT-1 shall be advanced to a depth of approximately 100 feet below <br /> surface grade with the CPT tool to evaluate the vertical succession of soil <br /> types and water-bearing zones from approximately 5 feet bsg to the total depth <br /> of the CPT boring The boring shall be backfilled with an appropriate <br /> material The stratigraphic data collected from boring CPT-1 shall be used to <br /> • <br /> 641 wp9-02 <br /> Project No 1641 15 4 HORIZON ENVIRONMENTAL INC. <br />
