• Page 4
filter pack will be placed in the screen interval to two feet above the well screen. Two
feet of hydrated bentonite pellets will be placed above the filter pack and the well
finished to the subsurface with grout. Each of these extraction wells will be finished with
12" x 12" heavy duty, H-20 load rated flush mounted manholes (see Figure 4). EHD
personnel will be on site during the well installation/grouting process.
Soil samples will be collected at five-foot intervals with a split spoon sampler for
lithologic determination.
4.3 Monitorine Well Construction
The boring conducted for installation of the monitoring well (MW-13B) shall be
conducted with HSA to install an 80-foot-deep well that is constructed of 2-inch sch 80
PVC with a 20 foot 0.01-inch slot screen between 60 feet and 80 feet bgs. The well will
be constructed through the auger and a filter pack will be placed as the auger is retracted.
The sand filter pack will be placed in the screen interval to two feet above the well
screen. Two feet of hydrated bentonite pellets will be placed above the filter pack and
the well finished to the surface with grout mixture. The monitoring well shall have a
threaded cap and finished with a 12" x 12" heavy duty, H-20 load rated flush mounted
manholes (see Figure 5). EHD personnel will be on site during the well
installation/grouting process.
Soil samples will be conducted at five-foot intervals using a split spoon sampler for
lithologic determinations.
5. Well Development and Survey
After the wells are installed and 24 hours after the grout seal is in place, each well will be
developed. Development will consist of bailing/pumping to remove fine-grained material
inside the well. Development will continue until the field parameters of pH, temperature,
and electrical conductivity stabilize. The development water will be contained in the
Baker tank on site and then properly disposed. Once completed, the new extraction
wells, injection wells, and monitoring well will be surveyed in a format compatible with
the GeoTracker database.
6. Reyortine
After completion of the well constructions, AGE and Huff & Huff will prepare the
necessary reports required under the schedule of the MRP. These reports will include all
information requested in the MRP, including a summary of the well installation activities,
well completion logs, and a figure showing the new well locations. In addition, the
GeoTracker database will be updated with the new well data.
After the field activities are completed, AGE will prepare the California Department of
Water Resources Well Completion Reports for the installation of the new wells.
R;\CONTGRAN\CC14Cmgill\French Camp\GW Recirculation Pilot Study Work Plan October 2007\Well Installation Work Plan-Pmnch Camp Grain
Elevator 0125 Og.doc
