ALTERNATNE A I
EXCAVATION TO 500 mg/Kg LINE
PRELIlVIINARY COST ESTIMATE
Former ContiGroup Grain Elevator
1805 Harbor Street
Stockton,California
Assumptions:
1. Excavation extent is defined roughly as an ellipse bound by HA-8,HA-9,utility pole,
and MW-4.
2. Excavation overburden area is approximately 1,350 ft 2(67.5'x20'). The top 10-ft of
overburden to be removed, stockpiled, and tested as one composite sample per 100 yd3
for TPHd and TPHg. Overburden soil(505 yd)assumed to be non-hazardous and
used to backfill excavation. Average excavation depth of 27-ft for a total amount to be
disposed of 850 yd3(1,422 tons @ 125 lbs/ft density).
3. Half existing 14'x20' concrete pad to be removed with assumed thickness of 6-in.
estimated at 6.5 tons to be recycled. No asphalt pavement to be removed.
4. Excavation will be shored for 28-ft deep soil removal.
5. Groundwater depth approximately 12-ft bgs.
6. Shored excavation will be dewatered during excavation and backfill. Assume
dewatering extraction rate of 15 gallons per minute(gpm).
7. Extracted water will be piped to a treatment system consisting of one 2,000-pound
carbon unit arranged in series, pumps, sand filter, holding tanks, water level controllers,
piping and manifold. The treated water is to be discharged to a City sewer with
appropriate permits.
8. For cost estimating purposes, the affected soil is assumed to be transported to the Class
11 Forward Landfill in Stockton,CA,for disposal, with waste being profiled with
existing soil data prior to excavation mobilization.
9. Import fill material from local source.
10. No air monitoring required.
11. No dust control or vapor suppressant required.
12. Municipal water supply available at site.
Notes:
The following costs are estimates as provided by a local firm based on a conceptual design of the remedial action
and cost information on labor and material typical for similar projects. The actual costs for this project may vary
depending on final design,contract bids,agencies'requirements,and/or availability ofequipment,materials,and/or
contractors at the time of final remedial action design,construction,and/or implementation.
RIC0NTGRAN1StocktonlCAP\Cap Addendum Costs&Supporting Calcs
