C. Soil and Groundwater Sampling
ContiGroup proposes to collect continuous cores for lithologic evaluation and contaminant
assessment in at least three of the proposed borings. Soil sampling will be conducted
starting at ten feet bgs and will continue at approximately five-foot intervals to the maximum
depth of each boring. Sampling frequency will be evaluated in the field, and may be
adjusted based on observations of the geologist. A Maley & Aldrich geologist will log the
samples using the Unified Soils Classification System. Groundwater samples will be
collected from the two deep borings using Hydropunch sampling equipment.
D. Laboratory Analysis of Samples
All soil and groundwater samples will be analyzed by EPA Methods 8020 and 801 S for
TPH(g), TPH(d), benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene and xylenes.
E. Quality Assurance/Quality Control
The analytical laboratory will adhere to its published QA/QC procedures for sample
handling, analyses, equipment operation, and data reporting. Haley& Aldrich will audit the
reported quality control data to confine that QA/QC protocols have been met.
. F. Decontamination of Field Equipment
All equipment to be used for soil and groundwater sampling will be properly decontaminated
prior to each use. Drilling equipment will be steam-cleaned and air-dried prior to reuse.
Sampling equipment, such as the Hydropunch and soil samplers, will be subject to a three-
bucket wash. The three:-bucket wash consists of 1) scrubbing in a tap water and phosphate-
free detergent mix; 2) tap water rinse; and 3) a final rinse with deionized water followed by
air drying.
G. Soil and Ground Water Residuals Management
Because we are using a direct-push drilling method, soil cuttings will not be generated.
Decontamination water generated during field activities will be stored temporarily on-site.
When the analytical results of this work become available, we will complete waste a profile
for the stored water and will coordinate appropriate disposal or recycling of this material.
2.03 Site Investigation Report
Haley & Aldrich will prepare a Site Investigation Report detailing the results from the field
activities described above. The report will follow, where applicable, the guidelines for site
investigations in San Joaquin County. The report will include a summary of past work at the
site; the purpose and scope for this site investigation; a description of the field activities
(including any deviations from this work plan); results; and recommendations.
