It is hoped that the City of Stockton has already submitted a Clean-
up Fund application as suggested in 1994.
Site Summary
The 500 gallon tank # 39-2399-01 which stored diesel was removed on November 7,
1990 and samples were collected. The PHS/EHD inspector, W. Snavely, noted that there
was a petroleum odor associated with the sample collected at 12 feet beneath the former
underground storage tank (UST) and discoloration and petroleum odor associated with the
sample collected at 5 feet beneath the former piping. The soil sample collected from
beneath the former UST was obtained after the concrete material used to stabilize the
former UST was removed. Information with regard to stockpile disposition is not available.
Sample ID Depth TPH-diesel benzene toluene ethylben xylene
SF-1C 12 feet < 1 <.005 <.005 <.005 <.005
SF-SW 5 feet < 1 <.005 0.0087 0.009 0.21
'Note: all sample results In ppm (mg/kg)
The results were reported with a geologic evaluation which indicated that there was a
slight to moderate product odor associated with the sample collected from beneath the I
former UST and a strong product odor associated with the sample collected from beneath
the former product line. When evaluating the analytical results with the field observations,
it should be noted that the analysis was not performed until 13 days after the date of
collection for TPH-diesel and 14 days for BTEX. The maximum holding time of samples for
petroleum analysis is 14 days. Usually analysis is completed within 7 days of collection.
The tank was disposed of at Cal Coast Tank, 424 South Tegner Road, Turlock CA 95380
on December 10, 1990. The tank rinsate which comprised approximately 60 gallons was
transported under manifest to The Kiesel Company, #1 Branch Street, St. Louis Missouri
63147. ;
A Division Of San Joaquin County Health Care Services k
k
