S
Results of Initial Investigation and Work Plan December 18, 1990
ARCO Service Station No. 548, Stockton, California AGS 30004-2
soil. Each group of four samples will be composited into one sample by the laboratory. Soil
samples will be collected in clean brass tubes from approximately b inches below the surface
of the stockpiles.
Trustallation of Conductor Casins
After excavating, if results of laboratory analyses indicate soil samp_ws collected from the
base of either gasoline tank excavation contain hydrocarbons in concentrations that warrant
remediation, a maximum of six conductor casings, two between each tank, will be installed
from the base of the tanks to the ground surface. The conductor casing will be driven
approximately 2 feet into native soil and theta surrounded by clean pea gravel backfill.
Twelve-inch-diameter polyvinyl chloride pipe will be used for conductor casing. The
;,.. conductor casing will allow soil borings to be drilled between the new tanks.to continue
further investigation of soil conditions beneath the tanks. Vapor-recovery wells could be
Y
s
installed in these borings if remediation of soil is warranted.
y
LABORATORY ANALYSES
Soil samples collected from the bottom of the existing and proposed gasoline tank cavities
will be submitted to a State-certified laboratory for analysis of TPHg by Environmental
Y
Protection Agency (EPA) preparation Method 5030 and modified EPA Method 8015 and
r
BTEX by EPA Method 8020. Soil samples collected from under the former leaded gasoline
tank will be submitted for analysis of total and organic lead.
Soil.samples.collected fromthebottom of the waste-oil tank cavi will be submitted for - -_---
- cavity- --- -
TPHg and total petroleum hydrocarbons as diesel using preparation Method 5030 and
L,1 16
APPIlecd Ge®systams
