.S
Mr Paul Supple Project 20805-140 003
April 30, 1998
Page 6
ANALYTICAL RESULTS
Soil samples collected from beneath the gasoline USTs, product delivery piping, and
dispensers were submitted as discrete samples, and soil samples collected from the
gasoline UST soil stockpile were submitted for compositing two to one at the laboratory
Samples were analyzed for the following parameters consistent with SJCPHS
requirements
• TPHG using U S Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA) Method 8015M
• BTEX using USEPA Method 8020
• Methyl-tert-butyl ether (MTBE) using USEPA Method 8020
• Oxygenates [ternary butanol, MTBE, di-isopropyl ether, ethyl tertiary butyl
ether, and tertiary amyl methyl ether] using USEPA Method 8260
• Total lead using USEPA Method 7410
Soil sample T-5 collected from beneath the waste oil UST and soil stockpile sample
P
SP-2A/2B were analyzed for TPHG and total petroleum hydrocarbons as diesel (TPHD)
using USEPA Method 8015M, BTEX using USEPA Method 8020, halogenated volatile
organics (HVOCs) using USEPA Method 8010, ICAP metals (cadmium, chromium, lead,
nickel, zinc, and chronuum VI), and PCBs using USEPA 8080 In addition, sample
SP-2A/2B was also analyzed for TOG using SM 5520 E&F and polynuclear aromatic
hydrocarbons using USEPA Method 8100 These analyses were used to evaluate
appropriate disposal methods of stockpiled soil
Tank Excavation Soil Samples
Analytical results indicate the vertical extent of petroleum hydrocarbon impacts in the
northeastern and central southern part of the former gasoline UST complex extended to
depths greater than 16 feet bgs Detected TPHG concentrations at depths of 15 to
16 feet bgs ranged from 750 to 8,200 milligrams per kilogram (mg/kg) Benzene was
detected in sample T-3-N at a concentration of 4 6 mg/kg MTBE was detected in
samples T-2-S and T-4-S at concentrations of 0 11 and 0 057 mg/kg, respectively
Additional oxygenates did not exceed laboratory method reporting limits Total lead
ranged from below method reporting hunts to 27 mg/kg See Table 1 for analytical
results and the appendix for copies of certified analytical reports
SACW\PIO 80"8051400 3FS-94wsmer 1 ;DMN44&
