• Mr Kyle Christie Project 0805-140.02
January 24, 1996
Page 3
consistent with previous sampling events Groundwater elevations increased
approximately 136 feet from the previous sampling event (August 1995)
Groundwater samples from each well were analyzed for TPHG and BTEX using
Environmental Protection Agency Methods 5030/DHS/LUFT and 5030/8020,
respectively The samples were analyzed at Columbia Analytical Services, Inc , in San
Jose, California. The results of these analyses are summarized in Table 1 Copies of the
chain-of-custody records and laboratory analysis reports are presented in Appendix B
Results of analyses indicated TPHG was detected in groundwater samples collected from
wells MW-1 and MW-5 at concentrations of 78 parts per billion (ppb) and 1,200 ppb,
respectively Benzene was detected at a concentration of 2 3 ppb in well MW-1 and
55 ppb in well MW-5 TPHG and BTEX were below laboratory detection limits in wells
MW-2, MW-3, MW-4, and MW-6. Concentrations of TPHG and benzene are shown on
Figure 2
. ACTIVITIES PERFORMED DURING THE FOURTH QUARTER
a EMCON performed quarterly groundwater sampling
• EMCON compiled and evaluated groundwater monitoring data
• EMCON finalized and submitted the "interim Soil Remediation Plan and Well
Installation Workplan" to the regulatory agencies
• EMCON prepared and submitted an access agreement to the property owner
south of the site (Lincoln Properties) The access letter was submitted on
November 28, 1995
ANTICIPATED WORK
• ARCO will continue quarterly groundwater monitoring The next sampling event
is tentatively scheduled for March 1996
CONCLUSIONS
• The groundwater flow direction has been consistently toward the east. Dissolved gasoline
hydrocarbons were detected in groundwater samples collected from monitoring wells MW-1
and MW-5 but were not detected in wells MW-2, MW-3, MW-4, or MW-6. Dissolved
hydrocarbon concentrations were generally consistent with previous sampling events
SAGA WOMOM8051400 2DS-9&wpt 1
