Last Period: <0.05 mg1m3(average)
Initial Benzene Concentration: 60.1 mg/m3(September 28, 2000)
DISCUSSION:
TPHG and BTEX were not detected in the samples collected from monitoring wells MW-2 through MW-5,
consistent with the previous quarter. TPHG, BTEX, and MTBE was detected in the sample collected from
monitoring well MW-1 at concentrations of 540 gglL, 43 pg/L, 160 pg/L, 13 pg/L, 76 pg/l- and 1,900 pg/L,
respectively. The increase in concentrations at MW-1 may be attributed to the rising water. Total xylenes
were also detected in the sample collected from monitoring well MW-6 at a concentration of 0.73 µglL.
MTBE was detected in the samples collected from monitoring wells MW-1, MW-2 and MW-6 at
concentrations of 1,900 pg/L, 1.3 pg/L, and 21 pg/L, respectively. No free product was found in vapor
extraction well VW-5D during the third quarter.
As requested in the San Joaquin County Public Health Services' letter dated September 26, 2001, Delta
sampled vapor wells VW-1, VW-2, VW-3, VW-4, and VW-51D. Well VW-5S was dry. TPHG was detected
in wells VW-2, VW-3, and VW-5D at concentrations between 180 and 54,000 pg/L. Benzene was
detected in wells VW-1, VW-2, VW-3, and VW-5D at concentrations between 2.5 and 840 pg/L. MTBE
was detected in all five of the vapor wells at concentrations between 1.5 and 100 pg/L. Well VW-5S was
P:\ARCO\0548\QTRLY12001\Arco-054S-4QOI.doc Delta
