- i
1
not sampled. Wells VW-1, VW-2, VW-3, VW-4, and VW-5D were not purged prior to sampling because
. the screened intervals in these wells are not submerged, and the wells were not purged during previous
sampling events.
The groundwater flow direction was calculated to be towards the east-northeast at an average gradient of
0.0026 ft/ft. An eastward groundwater flow direction is consistent with previous quarters. The
groundwater elevation has increased by more than 0.5 feet across the site since the previous sampling
event(September 2001).
A Delta technician conducted five site visits to optimize and maintain the SVE/AS system. Approximately
246 lbs of TPHG as gasoline was removed during the fourth quarter 2001, and a cumulative mass of
1,276.53 lbs since startup (09128100). The SVE system was shutdown between November 9, 2001, and
November 26, 2001, due to a power outage. Upon system restart on November 26, 2001, soil vapor
concentrations were low and therefore the system was shutdown to allow soil vapor concentrations to
rebound. During the first quarter 2002, Delta will restart the system and optimize the operation of the SVE
system. The SVE system is in compliance with San Joaquin Valley Unified Air Pollution Control District
permit to operate.
The air sparge system was shutdown between October 15, 2001, and October 22, 2001, due to
mechanical problems. On October 22, 2001, a Delta technician re-started the AS system after installing a
new belt and air cleaning filters on the air sparge compressor. Due to a power outage, the AS system
shut down on November 19, 2001. The AS system was not restarted as the SVE system was shut down.
The AS system will be restarted along with the SVE system. Delta is currently injecting ambient air in
three sparge wells (AS-1 through AS-3) at flow rates in the range of 0.33 to 0.66 cubic feet per minute
(cfm) at approximately 10.0 pounds per square inch (psi).
• ATTACHMENTS:
• Table 1 Groundwater Monitoring Data
• Table 2 Groundwater Analytical Results for Oxygenates and Additional Compounds
• Table 3 Floating Product Monitoring Summary, Well VW-5D
• Table 4 Operational Uptime Information of the Soil Vapor Extraction System
• Table 5 Flow Rates and Analytical Results of Air Sample Analyses
• Table 6 Extraction and Emission Rates
Figure 1 Site Location Map
• Figure 2 Groundwater Elevation Contours, 4"'Quarter 2001
• Figure 3 Groundwater Analytical Summary 4`h Quarter 2001
• .
