Camille <br /> Tosco Marketing Company <br /> Environmental Compliance Division <br /> 2000 Crow Canyon Place, Suite 400 <br /> San Ramon, California 94583 <br /> Subject: Work Plan For Soil Sampling Following Product Piping Removal At Tosco 76 <br /> Branded Facility #11193, 3202 West Hammer Lane, Stockton, California. <br /> Mr. Camille: <br /> At the request of Tosco Marketing Company (Tosco),Gettler-Ryan Inc. (GR)has prepared this Work <br /> Plan for soil sampling following removal of product piping at the subject site (Figure 1). This work <br /> is being performed as part of an upgrade of the piping system at the site. The existing piping will <br /> be removed by Tosco's contractor, who will obtain the necessary permits from the San Joaquin <br /> County Public Health Services(SJCPHS)and other agencies, as required. GR will collect compliance <br /> samples from the product piping trenches as required by the State of California Water Resources <br /> Control Board's Leaking Underground Fuel Tanks (LUFT) Manual, the California Regional Water <br /> Quality Control Board's (RWQCB) Tri-Regional Board Staff Recommendations for Preliminary <br /> Investigation and Evaluation of Underground Talk Sites, and SJCPHS guidelines. Gasoline USTs <br /> at the site will not be removed. <br /> The site is currently an active Tosco facility branded as a 76 Station, with a snack store building, two <br /> dispenser islands, two 10,000-gallon and one 8,000 fiberglass gasoline underground storage tanks <br /> (UST)s and one 1,000-gallon fiberglass waste oil UST. Pertinent site features are shown on Figure <br /> 2. <br /> PREVIOUS ENVIRONMENTAL WORK <br /> • Mobil removed one 1,000-gallon waste oil UST in April 1987. <br /> • Groundwater monitoring wells MW-1 through MW-4 were installed in December 1992. <br /> • Groundwater monitoring wells MW-5 through MW-7 were installed in March 1994. <br /> • One vadose zone well (VW-1) was installed and two Hydropunch borings (THP-1 and THP-2) <br /> were drilled in November 1994.
