i
i.
V%
7
i
(i.e.,the north end of the pump island). ATC proposes to advance two(2)soil borings(designated SB-4
and SB-5)to an approximate depth of approximately 15 feet bgs One soil, sample will be collected from I j
each of the two proposed borings at the capillary fringe, and one groundwater sample will be collected
from each boring at approximately 15 feet bgs. Borings SB-4 and SB-5 will then be advanced to 40 feet
bgs, and groundwater samples will be collected from the bottoms of those borings using Hydropunch 4
techniques. One(1)additional boring(SB-6)will be continuous) 'cored to a depth of a
y p pproximately 40 feet
bgs; a soil sample will be collected at the capillary fringe from this boring. Depth discrete groundwater
samples will also be collected from the shallow zone(from approximately 15 feet bgs)and the deep zone
(from approximately 40 feet bgs) at boring SB-6.
f
The anticipated scope of work is as follows. (-
SCOPE OF WORK I [
t f
Task 1 Pre-field Activities/HASP "-ll
This task includes all the activities related to !pre-mobilization, permits, site clearance and site specific
Health and Safety Plan (HASP) preparation. The drilling permit will be obtained from SJCEHD. A work
plan is also required for submittal with the drilling permit application. The borehole locations will be
marked with white paint and Underground Service Alert(USA)will be notified at least 48 hours prior to
initiating drilling activities to allowtime for utility companies to identify underground lines, pipes,or cables f
that maybe affected by the drilling activities. A private utility locator will also be retained to ensure that the
proposed locations do not conflict with underground utility locations. A HASP will be prepared for the
subject site investigation based on requirements of Title 29 of the Code of Federal Regulations (CFR)
Section 1920.1200),the California General Industry Safety Order(GISO)and Title 8, California Code of
Regulations (CCR) Section 5192. A copy of;the HASP will be 'on-site during the course of the field
activities.
i
Task 2 Drilling/Soil and Groundwater Sampling/Sample Analysis
9!
ATC will utilize hand-auger techniques to clearthe proposed boring locations to approximately 5feet bgs.
All drilling and sampling activities will be performed consistent with ATC's standard operating procedures
(Attachment 1).
The locations of the proposed borings are illustrated on Figure 1,Proposed Boring Location Map.The soil
borings will be drilled using a track-mounted,direct push(Geoprobe)drilling rig. Drilling will be conducted
by a California C57-licensed drilling company.:An ATC field scientist, under the responsible charge of a
California registered professional engineer or geologist, will log tfi'e borings and collect soil samples. ATC
proposes to advance three soil borings (SB-4,1•.SB-5 and SB-6) afthe locations presented in Figure 1.
Ai
During drilling of borings B-4 and B-5,an approximately 1.5-inch diameter boreholewill be advanced and
logged to an approximate depth of 15 feet bgs (approximately'2 to 3 feet below first encountered
groundwater). Soil samples will be collected just above the water table(i.e.,at approximately 10 feet bgs)
or where elevated PID readings indicate the presence of impact.
