Workp6KFor Additional Assessment and Feasibmey Study
Quik Stop Market No. 132
3555 West Hammer Lane
Stockton, California
• The fuel oxygenates tert-butanol (TBA), MTBE, di-isopropyl ether (RIPE), ethyl-tert-butyl
ether (ETBE), and tert-amyl methyl ether (TAME), and 1,2 dichloroethane (1,2 DCA)
using EPA Method 8260
TASK 2 WELL INSTALLATION
A down gradient two-well cluster of groundwater monitoring wells (one upper aquifer well and
one lower aquifer well) will be installed to the east of Boring SB3, at the site of the eastern most
boring described in Task 2. The location will be cleared prior to drilling by marking the location
with paint and notifying USA. A well permit will be obtained from the PHS/EHD.
The soil borings for the wells will be advanced with a drill rig equipped with hollow stem augers
to depths of approximately 15 and 30 feet bgs for the upper aquifer well and lower aquifer well,
respectively. We assume that adverse drilling conditions, such as cobbles or flowing sands, will
not be encountered.
The groundwater monitoring wells will be completed first using 2-inch diameter, Schedule- 40
PVC casing. The upper aquifer well will be set with a 10-foot section of 0.020-inch slotted
screen set at 5 to 15 feet bgs with 5 feet of Schedule 40 PVC blank to the surface. Sand pack
material consisting of 2/20 Monterey sand, or equivalent, will be installed from 15 to 3 feet.
Bentonite Pellets will be placed from 3 to 2 feet bgs. Neat Cement Grout will then be placed from
2 feet to 1-foot bgs, and concrete will be placed to the surface. The well will be secured at the
surface with a flush-mounted, traffic-rated well box. After the sand pack has been placed, the
well will be surged to set the sand pack and partially develop the well. _
The lower aquifer groundwater monitoring well will be completed to a depth of approximately 30
feet bgs. The lower aquifer well will be set with a 10-foot section of 0.020-inch slotted screen set
at 20 to 30 feet bgs with 20 feet of Schedule 40 PVC blank to the surface. Sand pack material
consisting of 2/20 Monterey sand, or equivalent, will be installed from 30 to 18 feet. Bentonite
Pellets will be placed from 18 to 15 feet bgs. Neat Cement Grout will then be placed from 15 feet
to 1-foot bgs, and concrete will be placed to the surface. The well will be secured at the surface
with a flush-mounted, traffic-rated well box. After the sand pack has been placed, the well will be
surged to set the sand pack and partially develop the well.
4
