Revised Work Plan for Additional Groundwater`Investigation
Quik Stop Market No. 132
3555 West Hammer lane
`- Stockton,California
On September 24, 1998, ATC visited Quik Stop No. 132 to reconnoiter the surrounding area in
order to visually confirm the presence of any wells within 2,000 feet of Quik Stop No. 132. ATC
was not able to locate any domestic, municipal, and agricultural wells within 2,000 feet of Quik
Stop No. 132. However, ATC was able to locate four groundwater monitoring wells located at
the downgradient Unocal Service Station (approximately 1,300 feet southeast of Quik Stop No.
132).
OPERATING HISTORY OF SITE USTs
The following is a brief summary of the site operational history:
.
1. Dillion Real Estate (a subsidiary of Dillion Companies, Quik Stop's parent) acquired the site
from Woodland Development in May 1985. The site at that time was apparently
`, undeveloped.
1 2. Quik Stop installed one 8,000-gallon and two 10,000-gallon Xerxes double-walled fiberglass
USTs in October 1985. Product piping was single-walled fiberglass contained within a lined
trench ("Fiber-trench").
I 3. Quik Stop #132 opened for retail sales in December 1985.
i 4. A vadose monitoring system was installed around the USTs in 1987.
5. In March 1989, Dillon Real Estate sold the property to Alice Adachi with a leaseback to Quik
Stop Markets. Quik Stop remains the owner and operator of record for the gasoline
tr equipment.
6. Gasoline vapor was detected in at least one of the vadose wells in July 1990.
7. Investigation suggested that piping or dispenser leaks had occurred around the north dispenser
island, and the Fiber-Trench had failed to contain the release.
8. Further assessment ultimately resulted in the entire gasoline system being removed and all
known contaminated soil being excavated in October-November 1990.
f 9. New double-walled USTs and product lines, dispensers, and canopies were installed in March
1991.
10. Various phases of assessment and groundwater monitoring have been conducted since 1991.
Details are presented in the reports listed in the reference section.
i'
rv.
......_..
