Quik Stop Market No. 132 October 30, 199J
Job No. 349132-32 Page 4
-' Survey
The wells will be surveyed by a licensed land surveyor. The wells will be located both
horizontally and vertically (to the nearest .01 feet MSL). A site plan will be prepared
at a reasonable scale so that the data can be portrayed in a useful manner,
Wel? Development
After construction, each well will be developed using a surge block to agitate and set the
sand pack around the annulus of the well casing. A bailer will be used to remove water
` manually after each surge. Well development (a) removes residual silts and clays left
- from the drilling and (b) improves the hydraulic conductivity between the wells and the
natural formation. After development, the well will be allowed to recharge with water
- from the surrounding formation (at IPast 24 hours), enabling Exceltech to collect a
representative water sample and to measure the thickness of any floating product
encountered.
fAll water collected during well development will be placed in DOT 17E drums and left
on-site until laboratory analyses are complete. At that time, the drums and water may
be properly disposed of by Quik Stop. s
r Groundwater Sampli,rg
}before sampling groundwater, an Exceltech sample technician will field-check the
monitoring wells with an interface probe or a clear acrylic bailer to checl: for the
E presence of free-floating product. In monitoring wells where,no floating product is
x observed, each well will be Purged:of a minimum of 4 well casing.volume.,-, 'of
I groundwater before sampling. Purged water will be placed in Department of
Transportation 17E drums. All important will sampling information will be included '
[-
in the final report. The information will ir;elude PH, temperature, conductivity, and
water volume removed.
i;
Samples will then be collected with a clean Teflon bailer and transferred to appropriate
5 laboratory-supplied bottles. The samples will be analyzed for TPIIG; benzene, toluene,
ethyl benzene, and xylenes (BTEX); total lead; organic lead; and where necessary, fecal
coliform. Each bottle will be labeled and logged on a chain-of--custody form and placed
in a cooler containing ice for transport to a California-certificd laboratoA endix
A includes the Exceltech Groundwater Sampling Protocols. pp
f
