Box 2009
Stockton, CA 95201
Attention: Mr. Steven K, Schneider
Environmental Health Specialist
Subject: Addendum to Environmental Investigation,Phase IV
Quik Stop Market No. 132, 3553 W. Hammer Lane, Stockton, Californi
Dear Mr. Schneider:
This addendum is in response to our phone conversation of March 18, 1992. During this
conversation you said you would need the following items for us to proceed, with this
investigation: 1) Shallow groundwater survey technique; 2) Direction of'subsequent
investigations; 3) City of Stockton Encroachment Permit; 4) Permission to enter urger Kip
property; 5) Content of report on shallow groundwater survey; and 6)Application for permit wi
fees.
1 . Shallow Groundwater Survey Technique
The entire operation is conducted from the back of a truck or van operated by Tracer
Research Corporation of Tucson, Arizona. A 1-112-Inch-diameter hole is drilled through the
asphalt or concrete, a 314-inch-diameter steel probe is then inserted into this hol and pushed
to the desired depth, in this case about 15 feet, by a hydraulic pusher-puller In hanism. A
tygon tube is then inserted into the probe and a water sample is collected. The ater sample
Is analyzed on-site by either a Varian or Hewlett-Packard gas chromatograph wit computing
integrators and lap-top computers and printers. Total acquisition time of each sampling
location is approximately 20 to 40 minutes. Once sampling has been completed,Ithe probe is
withdrawn and the hole is backfilled with granulated bentonite and capped with 04phalt patch.
2 .. Direction of Subsequent Investigations
The purpose of this shallow groundwater survey is to determine if the contanunation of the
perched aquifer can be detected on the eastern side of the Taco Bell property or;along West
Hammer Lane adjacent to the Taco Bell property. It will also provide inforiation on the
extent of the perched aquifer. If contamination is detected on the eastern side of Taco Bell,
then future investigations will be conducted to the east. Ifcontarnination is not detected, then
dependent on the results of the investigation, RESNA Industries Inc. (RESNA) would
probably recommend the installation of one or more groundwater monitoring'.wcils. The
i
#: tS6ZZ'l5$0l9L WVLZ:OI ; Z6-0Z—E : OZOL aeYdooelel x0aaX:A9 INKS
