1.0 INTRODUCTION <br /> As a result of subsurface petroleum hydrocarbon impact beneath former Chevron U S A <br /> Service Station 9-1918, in Stockton, California (Figure 1), Chevron U S A Products <br /> Company (Chevron) has been engaged in a significant remediation program To further <br /> develop the remedial approach, Chevron retained Pacific Environmental Group, Inc <br /> (PACIFIC) to prepare this corrective action plan (CAP) The purpose of the plan is to <br /> provide a framework for remediation, considering all pertinent regulatory guidance, site <br /> conditions, site remediation constraints, and probable future uses of the site <br /> 1.1 Previous Investigations <br /> Soil and groundwater investigations at the site have been conducted by Blaine Tech Services, <br /> Inc (Blaine), EA Engineering, Science, and Technology, Inc (EA), Groundwater <br /> Technology, Inc (GTI), Chevron, and Touchstone Developments Investigative work <br /> included site demolition activities (including underground storage tank [UST] excavation and <br /> removal), installation of 14 groundwater monitoring wells, 1 replacement monitoring well, <br /> 6 soil vapor extraction (SVE) wells, and 9 soil bonngs, a water-supply well survey, mstalla- <br /> tion and operation of an SVE system, geophysical survey, and fate and transport modeling <br /> Blaine is currently conducting quarterly groundwater monitoring at the site Quarterly moni- <br /> toring has been performed at the site since November 1988 A brief discussion of the findings <br /> of these investigations are presented as Appendix A <br /> 1.2 Document Format <br /> Within this document, a conceptual site model is developed (Section 2 0), and site water <br /> quality, public health, and safety goals are identified (Section 3 0) The need for remedial <br /> action is outlined in Section 4 0 In Section 5 0, remedial objectives are identified, remedial <br /> technologies are screened and assembled into remedial alternatives, alternatives are evaluated, <br /> and a specific alternative is recommended An implementation schedule is proposed and is <br /> included herein as Section 6 0 <br /> 3201337B/CAP AMD DOC 1 November 30, 1995 <br />
