2.0 CONCEPTUAL SITE MODEL <br /> 2.1 Physical Characteristics <br /> The site is located on the northwest corner of the intersection of East Harding Way and <br /> El Dorado Avenue in Stockton, California The site overlies an old slough that extended <br /> along the north side of Harding Way prior to widening of the road The site operated as a <br /> retail gasoline station from 1947 to 1988 Land use in the vicinity of the site is primarily resi- <br /> dential and light commercial The site property is bounded to the east by a 9hdLQjiWaftcts Jh01z/1 <br /> Company service station, to the west by a residence, to the south by a restaurant and ARCO <br /> AM/PM Mini-Mart, and to the north by medical offices (Figure 2) <br /> The retail gasoline station improvements included two generations of UST clusters Limited <br /> information is currently available regarding the first generation facilities The first generation <br /> • cluster, based on available data, consisted of four steel gasoline USTs, (4,000-, 3,000-, <br /> 1,000-, and 550-gallon) These tanks were located in the eastern portion of the site <br /> (Figure 3) <br /> In 1984, the second generation product facilities were installed at the site These facilities <br /> consisted of three fiberglass gasoline USTs (10,000-gallon) located m a common excavation <br /> in the central portion of the site one fiberglass used-oil UST (1,000-gallon) located behind <br /> the former station building, and three product islands These facilities were removed in 1988 <br /> when the station was decommissioned <br /> The nearest surface water to the site is Yosemite Lake located at the east end of Srruth Canal, <br /> approximately 3,500 feet west of the site, and the deep water channel of the San Joaquin <br /> River located approximately 4,500 feet south of the site The site lies at an approximate <br /> elevation of 13 feet above mean seal level, topography in the vicinity is essentially flat <br /> Regional groundwater flow paths merge toward central and western Stockton due to exten- <br /> sive pumping of water wells in this area (EA, January 1989) <br /> A well survey (EA, 1988) was performed for the site using data from the California State <br /> Department of Water Resources (DWR) Using these data, seven water wells were identified <br /> within 112 mile of the site The closest well is a domestic well located at 919 Center Street <br /> approximately 1,700 feet south (upgradient) of the Chevron station <br /> • 3201337B/CAP AMID DOC 2 November 30, 1995 <br />
