Ms. Daisy Wei • - 3 - • 3 April 2012 <br /> groundwater basin from a beneficial use designation is lengthy, expensive, and is rarely done. <br /> Central Valley Water Board staff applaud Koppel's creative search for an alternate path to <br /> closure, but encourage Koppel to reconsider this particular course of action. <br /> Conclusion <br /> Central Valley Water Board staff conditionally concur with the Root Zone Work Plan provided <br /> the following additions are made to the work plan: <br /> • Not more than 75 pounds of agricultural lime shall be applied to any of the proposed <br /> trenches. <br /> • Koppel shall add analyses for cation exchange capacity and percent base saturation to all <br /> samples that will be analysed for soil pH buffering capacity. <br /> • Obtain at least one soil sample from a location with soil pH greater than 6 and analyze for <br /> soil pH buffering capacity, cation exchange capacity and percent base saturation. <br /> Schedule <br /> In our 15 March conversation, Ms. Wei stated that Koppel intends to conduct the investigation in <br /> early April. Interim data shall be transmitted to Central Valley Water Board staff prior to <br /> applying any pH adjustment.
