• • KOPPEL STOCKTON TERMINAL
WORK PLAN FOR MONITORING WELL INSTALLATION
' TABLE 1
Proposed Monitoring Well Construction
Proposed Screened Intervals Proposed Total Depth
Well Name (n-bgs) (feet below ground surface)
KP-BG1 10 to 20 22
KP-5S 10 to 20 22
KP-7S 10 to 20 22
' KP-8S 10 to 20 22
KP-5D 45 to 55 57
' KP-61D 45 to 55 57
KP-7D 45 to 55 57
aFor the proposed deep wells, the screened interval will be 10 feet between the interval from 45 to 60 feet bgs.
' Water Quality Sampling
It is expected that each of the new wells will be sampled for the constituents shown in
Table 2. Field parameters of pH,electrical conductivity,dissolved oxygen, temperature,and
Eh will be measured during sampling. The dissolved oxygen,Eh,and pH measurements
will give an indication of in situ conditions that could affect rates of natural attenuation of
t the nitrate and ammonia concentrations at the site.
During drilling of the deep wells, hydropunch samples will be collected in the proposed
deep screened interval location. The samples will be analyzed in the field for nitrate and
ammonia to give an indication of the insitu concentration of the nitrogen constituents.
Hollow-stem auger drilling will proceed to just above the proposed screened interval and
then a hydropunch sampler will be pushed into the borehole up to 5 feet in advance of the
' drill bit. A sample will be collected and analyzed in the field to determine the nitrate and
ammonia concentrations. The field results will be used to determine the final screened
interval for the deep wells.
TABLE 2
Analytical Methods for New Monitoring Wells
' Parameter Analytical Method
TDS EPA 160.1
Nitratea EPA 353.3
Ammonia EPA 350.2
TKN EPA 351.3
' Analytical methods are from U.S. Environmental Protection Agency(EPA), 1983. Because concentrations or trends have
' remained relatively stable for KP-2,KP-3 and KP-4, it is recommended that the sampling
RDD\E:\144002TJELD INVESTIGATIIXJWEW MW-SOIL WKPLAN.DOC 2
