0 KOPPEL-STOCKTON TERMINAL
MONITORING WELL INSTALLATION WORK PLAN
with the property owner before well installation. For this work plan,it is assumed the
surface completion will consist of a 12-inch diameter,traffic-rated flush mount sealed with
concrete. The well will be locked with standard Master locks.Following completion, the top
of casing and ground surface elevations will be surveyed to the 1988 North American
Vertical Datum.
4.0 Well Development
The surge-and-bail method will be used for initial development of the monitoring well until
water quality characteristics stabilized. The well will be surged for at least 15 minutes and
then bailed for 30 minutes.Once bailing is complete, the well will be pumped until
successive samples show stabilization of pH within 0.5 unit, temperature within 1 degree
Celsius and conductivity within 10 percent. Field parameters, purge volume, and water
levels will be recorded on well development logs.
5.0 Schedule for Well Installation and Sampling
The area north of Sonora Avenue is seasonally wet,and the location will be difficult to
access during the winter and early spring. Therefore, monitoring well KP-10S will be
installed in early summer 2005 once the area has dried and the location is accessible by a
drill rig.
Well KP-10S will be monitored semi-annually for one year in accordance with RWQCB
Monitoring and Reporting Program(MRP)Number R5-2004-0835,dated November 10,
2004. Following one year of semi-annual monitoring, the monitoring frequency will be
reduced to an annual basis. The schedule for well installation and sampling is presented in
Table 1. Commencing with the 2006 annual monitoring event, well KP-10S will be sampled
on an annual basis concurrent with the annual sampling at other site wells.
As required by the MRP,groundwater samples collected from KP-10S will be analyzed for
nitrate as nitrogen and ammonia/ammonium.Field parameters will also be recorded
during semi-annual and annual sampling events at this well.
TABLET
Schedule for Drilling,Installing, and Sampling Monitoring Well KP-10S
Monitoring Well Installation Work Plan,Koppel Stockton Terminal,Stockton,California
Month and Year Activity
June 2005 Install KP-10S
October 2005 Sample KP-1 OS as part of the 2005 annual sampling event
April 2006 Sample KP-10S
October 2006 Sample KP-10S as part of the 2006 annual sampling event
RDDI:WO184VREPORTS\2DD4_MONITORINGWELLWP@004_MWELLWP.DOC 3
