After visual inspection of the interior of the septic tank,Mr.Infurna recorded the septic tank as being serviceable. 3.0. SCOPE OF WORK AGE proposes to collect soil samples to determine if petroleum hydrocarbon and/or volatile organic hydrocarbons-impacted soil is present beneath the site.The preliminary site assessment will include the following tasks: • Permitting and pre-field work activities; • Partial excavation of sampling locations; • Soil sample collection and analysis; and • Report preparation. 3.1. PERMITTING AND PRE-FIELD WORK ACTIVITIES A site assessment boring permit will be obtained from the SJCEHD for all on-site boring locations. In addition, a health and safety plan will be prepared in accordance with Occupational Safety and Health Guidance Manual for Hazardous Waste Site Activities(National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health Administration, U.S. Coast Guard and U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, 1985). 3.2. PARTIAL EXCAVATION OF SAMPLING LOCATIONS Using the septic system installation permit on file with SJCEHD, AGE will locate the distribution box,the 90 degree joint and the end of each leach line.Each of the above areas along with sampling areas located at each 20 foot section of leach line will be exposed for inspection by SJCEHD. 3.3. SOIL SAMPLE COLLECTION AND ANALYSIS AGE proposes to advance eleven soil borings utilizing GeoProbe "direct-push" techniques: one boring will be advanced angling beneath the septic tank, one boring will be located under the distribution box(D-Box)and one boring will be located under the 90 degree connection on leach line 2.
