v
Ms.Margaret Lagorio August 19,2009
Destruction of Groundwater Monitoring Wells Project No.2033-15688-01
15688 S. Harlan Road,Lathrop,California
Page 2
On July 20, 2009, a Stratus geologist was on-site to supervise the drilling and well destruction
activities at the locations shown on Figure 1. Woodward Drilling Company, Inc. of Rio Vista,
California (C-57 License No. 710079) was subcontracted to provide the drilling equipment and
personnel necessary to advance the borings and destroy the monitoring wells. Drilling was
completed using a truck-mounted hollow-stem auger drill rig equipped with 8-inch diameter
augers. The destruction method used was overdrilling of the entire length of the well casing
(total depth of 16 feet below ground surface) and subsequent backfill with neat cement. Well
destruction activities were witnessed by SJCEHD personnel (Margaret Lagorio). Each
wellbox was removed and a concrete patch was placed over the neat cement seal to cap the
boring flush with the surrounding pavement. California Department of Water Resources
(DWR) well completion reports certifying the destruction of the wells were filed with the
DWR (copies included as Attachment B).
Drill cuttings and wastewater generated during field activities were placed in DOT-approved
55-gallon steel drums and stored on-site pending disposal. One composite soil sample was
collected from the soil drums, relinquished to a CADHS-certified analytical laboratory, and
analyzed for total gasoline range organics (GRO),benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene and total xylenes
(BTEX), methyl tertiary butyl ether(MTBE), and lead(Pb). A copy of the analytical report for this
sample is included as Attachment C. Integrated Wastestream Management, of San Jose, California,
transported the soil (3 drums) and wastewater(1 drum) to licensed facilities for disposal. Copies of
certificates of disposal are included in Attachment D.
If you have any questions regarding this project, please contact Sarah Salcedo at (530) 313-9966.
Sincerely,
5TRATUS ENVIRONMENTAL, INC. gSSNAI CFo`
p $AKAR G
Q Q SALCED0 i
Q
Sarah Salcedo, P.G. y9Fa• 15300
Project Manager R CAVA
Attachments: Figure 1 Site Plan
Attachment A SJCEHD and City of Lathrop Permits
Attachment B DWR Well Completion Reports
Attachment C Laboratory Analytical Report (Waste Soil Sample)
Attachment D Certificates of Disposal
cc: Mr. Dalwinder Dhoot, 16500 S.
