The most important factors include generator knowledge,a description of the process
generating the waste, and the suspected contamination. Below are required analysis for some common
waste streams and contaminations-
Petroleum Cofftl inateSoils
Gasoline: TPH(8015M),BTEX(8020),TTLC Lead
Kerosene; TPH(801 SM),BTEX
Jet Fuel: TPH(sol SM),BTEX,TTLC Lead
Diesel: TPH("),BTEX
Used Hydraulic oil: TPH(•),BTEX,CAM 5 Metals(TTLC)
Bunker Oil: TPH("),BTEX
virgin Motor Oil: TPR(*),BTEX
Used Motor Oil: TPH("), BTEX,CAM 5 Metals CrrLC)
Waste Oil: TPH(•),8260,8270,PCBs,CAM 5 Metals(TTLC)
+ Methods 8015M,418.I or 5520 e&f are acceptable for TPH results.
Ash
CAM 17 metals(77U), Reactivity,Corrosively and Ignitability(RC1)
Municipal Wastewater Treatment Sludge(biosolids)
CAM 17 metals(TTLC),8260 volatiles,8270 semivolatiles,8081 pesticides,8151 herbicides,
RC1,percent moisture,paint filter.
Wood Treated
Pentachlorophenol and Cresote:8270 setnivolariles,total benzene,RCI
CCA/CCZA(Chromium,Copper,Zinc,Arsenic):CAM 17 metals
Additional Analysis
In addition to the above requirements, the following analysis may be necessary:
1) The 96-Hour Static Acute Fish Bioassay(LC50)is required for contaminated soil with concentrations
of gas and lighter end hydrocarbons>5,000 ppm or diesel and heavy end hydrocarbons> 15,000 ppm.
2) The Waste Extraction Test(WET)is required for a metal with a total(TTLC) level 10 times greater
than the permitted STLC. The attached pages and associated TTLC levels do not necessarily
disqualify the acceptance of tete material, but do indicate the need for the extraction test.
3) The TCLP is required for any organic with a total(TTLC)level 20 times greater than the permitted
TCLP. Some organic compounds have both Federal and State regulatory levels.
