25 August 1999
AGE-NC Project No 98-0448
physicochemical laboratory analysis The results of the analysis indicated that selected microbial
' enumeration (hydrocarbon-degrading microorganisms) were detected at 1 CFU (colony forming
units)per gram The laboratory indicated that these physicochemical conditions at the site were well
within the range necessary to support microbial growth and bioremedial activity The analysis also
Iindicated that the percentage of microbial btodegraders were significantly lower in the EWl-25 soil
sample, possibly due to the presence of alternative carbon sources (abundance of organic debris)
Copies of the microbial enumeration and physicochemical laboratory reports are included with
Appendix D
' 3 5 ANALYTICAL RESULTS OF GROUND WATER SAMPLES
' Nine ground water monitoring well samples were submitted to a DHS-certified laboratory for
analysts of TPH-g, BTEX, MTBE, TAME, DIPS, ETBE and TBA to June 1999 TPH-g was
detected to ground water samples collected from wells MW-1,MW-2,MW-4A,MW-4B,MW-6 and
' MW-8 at concentrations between 86 micrograms per liter (µg/1) and 65,000 ug/l, however the
laboratory reported unmodified or weakly modified gasoline was significant or heavier gasoline
range compounds were significant
Various BTEX compounds were detected in ground water samples collected from wells MW-1
' through MW-8 at concentrations between 0 82 Mcg/l and 16,000 ,ug/l, the greatest benzene
concentration was detected to the ground water sample collected from MW-4B at a concentration
of 4,900 ,ug/1
' MTBE was detected to ground water samples collected from wells MW-1, MW-4B and MW-8 at
concentrations ranging as high as 41 µgll DIPE was detected to ground water samples collected
' from MW-1 and MW-413 at concentrations as high as 10 µg/1, TBA was detected to ground water
samples collected from MW-1,MW-6 and MW-8 at concentrations as high as 7µg/1 No other fuel-
oxygenate analytes were detected above laboratory reporting limits
' The analytical results of quarterly ground water samples are summarized to Table 3 The laboratory
reports (McCampbell Analytical Inc Lab I D No 14174 through 14182) and chain-of-custody
forms are included in Appendix E
' 4.0. DISCUSSION AND CONCLUSIONS
I
Based on the results of soil sampling, ground water monttonng and ground water sampling activities
performed to June 1999, AGE concludes
• Advanced GeoEnviron mental,Inc
I '
