' 24 August 2001
AGE-NC Project No 98-0448
' Page 5 of 7
4 4 ANALYTICAL RESULTS OF SOIL-GAS VAPOR SAMPLES
' VE d 25 June
S air flow samples were collected on 16 April, 27 April, 07 May, 14 May, 06 June an
' 2001 TPH-g was detected from all Influent SVE air flow samples at concentrations as high as
14,000,ug/l,TPH-g was detected from the 16 April and 27 April 2001 effluent SVE air flow samples
at concentrations of 86 and 1,650 4g/l, respectively
' BTEX compounds were detected in all Influent SVE air flow samples at concentrations as high as
330 4g/1 (toluene, 16 April 2001) Benzene was detected in all Influent SVE air flow samples at
' concentrations as high as 50 ,ug/l Analytical results of SVE air flow samples are summarized in
Table 4 The laboratory reports (McCampbell Analytical Laboratory I D Nos 65629-30, 67487,
69218-19 and 70870-71, Precision Enviro-Tech Analytical Laboratory I D Nos PEI 1464 and
' PEI 1589) and chain-of-custody forms are presented in Appendix D A plot of laboratory analysis
influent TPH-g SVE air flow concentrations versus time is in Appendix E
' 4 5 MASS CALCULATION OF RECOVERED PRODUCT
The hydrocarbon mass removed during the SVE operating period was calculated using the following
equation M = C•Q•t
fwhere M= cumulative mass recovered (kg)
C =vapor concentration (kg/m')
Q =extraction flow rate (M3/hr)
t= operational period, in hours
' Between 16 April 2001 (start-up) and 30 June 2001 (second quarter 2001), the SVE unit operated
a total of 1,704 hours (Table 5) The average of analytical results between SVE air flow sampling
events (Table 4), average SVE air flow rates, (Table 5) and the operational period were used to
calculate the approximate volume and mass of extracted gasoline during these periods
During the second quarter 2001; the mass of hydrocarbons"extracted-from the SVE system was
' calculated to be approximately 677 65 pounds,or equivalent to a volume of 108 4 gallons of gasoline
extracted The mass/volume calculations for extracted hydrocarbons are included with Appendix F
A plot of the cumulative volume (gallons) of hydrocarbons extracted to date is in Appendix E
1 ,
Advanced Geo C'nvironmental,Inc
