Hazelton Ave
Stockton, Ca. 95203
San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department (EHD) is the lead agency
providing the oversight of the investigation and cleanup of releases from underground
storage tanks (USTs) within San Joaquin County. EHD has a contract with the
California State Water Resources Control Board to conduct a UST corrective action
program. The above-referenced site (Case 2)was placed in the EHD Local Oversight
Program (LOP) in October, 2004.
EHD received and filed the Unauthorized Release Form you completed for a UST (Case
2) previously removed south of Plant Building 2. Three borings were completed in a
concrete patched area where a UST existed. Soil and groundwater samples were
collected June 11, 2004, during an Environmental Site Assessment for a property sale.
Analytical results from one of the borings evidenced gasoline contamination in the soil
starting at 10 feet below ground surface (BGS) and extending to groundwater at 25 feet
BGS. The groundwater sample results were positive for gasoline and BTEX.
Please submit a Work Plan (WP)to EHD to investigate the lateral and vertical extent of
soil and groundwater contamination cause by the release from the UST (Case 2) by
January 3, 2005. Data existing from the investigation and ongoing cleanup of Case 1
should be considered when the WP for Case 2 is being developed.
If you have any further questions regarding this matter, contact Harlin Knoll at (209) 468-
3442.
Donna Heran, RENS, Director
Environmental Health Division
24" 7'iK.e-Q- x
Harlin Knoll, Senior REHS Margaret agono, REHS
LOP/Site Mitigation Unit IV Supervisor
cc: CVRWOCB—Jim Barton
cc: SWRCB, Cleanup Fund
