V&W and Ground Zero meet on-site with John Hervey at 8 am 1
2. We will start by installing MW-BR near the USTB excavation
a. The boring will be advanced using 8-inch hollow stem augers to a total depth of 20 feet.
b. Soil samples will be collected at 5-foot intervals per SJCEHD request. ],
c. Up to three samples will be submitted to Argon Laboratories for analysis(including the capillary fringe and
bottom samples). The third sample location to be sent to the lab will be selected based on field
observations and PID readings. J
d. The well will be constructed using 20 feet of 2-inch PVC casing (10 feet of 0.020"slotted screen and 10 feet
of PVC blank); The bottom of the screen interval will be capped with a PVC cap; The top will.be.capped by
a water tight locking monitoring well cap. -"
- e. The boring will be completed using#3 sand from total depth to one foot above the well casing; 2-feet of • x
bentonite chips will be added above the sand filter back and hydrated for 20 to 30 minutes; After they-
bentonite is hydrated the remaining annulus will be filled with neat cement grout to approximately 6-inches i
" below surface; The annulus will be completed by installing a traffic-rated well box placed over the top of the -
casing and cemented into place.
f. We anticipate that Mr. Knoll will be on site prior to grouting the boring.
3. We will move over to MW-A
a.' This well will be destroyed by pressure grouting
b. Grout will be poured through the well casing using trimmie pipe to displace water
c. Pressure will be applied to the well casing filled with grout
d. Grout will be added to the well casing as it subsides, until no subsidence is noted
e. The upper three feet of the well will be over-drilled and the borehole grouted to grade
4. Soil cuttings will be added to debris piles for disposal at the landfill
Sincerely,
Eric L.
