Ground Zero proposes that the well be over-drilled using
hollow stem augers with a guide rod to keep the augers centered over the well casing. Three soil
samples will be collected at random depths for soil profile purposes. After the wells are over-drilled
the guide rods will be removed and the 2-inch diameter well casing pulled from the borehole. The
boring will be grouted with neat cement grout, through the augers, to just below the ground surface.
Displaced water will be displaced on the surface. Surface completion will consist of native fill to
match the existing surface. All soil generated during the destruction of these wells will be placed in
a DOT approved 55-gallon drum pending disposal.
Soil Profile
The three soil samples will collected in 2-inch brass sleeves, the ends covered with Teflon® sheets
and capped, uniquely labeled, placed into an ice chest cooled to approximately 4°C, and transported
to Argon Laboratories (Argon) in Ceres, California (ELAP No. 2359) under chain of custody
protocol for analysis. The tubes will be composited into a 3:1 sample for landfill disposal purposes.
The samples will be analyzed for the following.
• Total petroleum hydrocarbons as gasoline (TPHg), Total petroleum hydrocarbons as diesel
and motor oil (TPHd and TPHmo)by EPA method 8015M
• Benzene,toluene, ethylbenzene, and total xylenes(BTEX)by EPA method 8021B
• TTLC Lead by EPA method 6010
Soil Disposal
Soil Disposal
After review of the laboratory results a soil disposal profile will be prepared and be submitted to
Republic (formerly Forward) Landfill in Manteca. Once the profile is approved, the soil will be
hauled to the landfill for disposal. A copy of the manifest will be included in the report of well
destruction and site restoration.
i
F
Reporting
A report of well destruction and site restoration activities will be submitted to the RWQCB and F
EHD within 20 days of soil and groundwater disposal.
a
G:1Data1GROUNDZEISPRECKELS\ReportSNWell Destruction WP.doc
