r <br /> 3 0 GROUNDWATER EXTRACTION <br /> To attempt to reduce the concentrations of MTBE and 1,2-DCA in groundwater, Ramage <br /> Environmental supervised the extraction of groundwater from MW-5 and MW-7 on three monthly <br /> occasions (January 10, February 7, and March 20, 2004) During each event, groundwater was <br /> extracted for approximately 8 hours, using a vacuum truck capable of generating a vacuum of <br /> between 25 and 29 inches of mercury, and a one-inch diameter, semi-rigged, clear, PVC, <br /> downhole stinger Groundwater extraction volumes included 1,600 gallons on January 10, <br /> 2004, 2,730 gallons on February 7, 2004, and 2,520 gallons on March 20, 2004 <br /> Following groundwater extraction and recharge, groundwater samples were collected from both <br /> of the extraction wells During the first two events, groundwater samples were also collected <br /> from both wells during extraction The groundwater samples were collected using dedicated <br /> disposable bailers and laboratory-supplied containers The groundwater samples were <br /> transported in an iced cooler with chain-of-custody documentation to Kiff Analytical, LLC (Kiff), a <br /> ` state of California certified hazardous waste testing laboratory (#2236) Kiff analyzed the <br /> groundwater samples for TPH-as-gasoline, BTEX, MTBE, DIPE, ETBE, TAME, and TBA by EPA <br /> Method 8260B The groundwater extraction results are summarized in Table 3, and the <br /> laboratory reports are included in Appendix A <br /> Immediately following each extraction event, the vacuum truck transported the extracted <br /> groundwater as non-hazardous waste to InStrat, Inc for treatment and disposal at its facility in <br /> Rio Vista, California The wastewater disposal documentation is included as Appendix B <br /> r <br /> r <br /> r <br /> r <br /> r 7 <br /> • <br /> r. <br /> r <br />
