QUARTERLY MONITORING REPORT
FIRST QUARTER 1996
1
San Joaquin Catholic Cemetery
Harding Way and Cemetery Lane
Stockton, California
' INTRODUCTION
' On January 9, 1996 groundwater monitoring and sampling wasperformed at the above-
referenced site The site is located approximately one mile north of downtown Stockton,
California (Figure 1)
GROUNDWATER GRADIENT
' Depth-to-groundwater measurements were taken in all five monitoring wells to evaluate
groundwater flow and gradient characteristics The depth-to-groundwater at the site ranged from
52 90 to 54 60 feet below ground surface The elevation of the groundwater surface beneath
the site ranged from a high of 35 90 feet below mean sea level (msl) in MW-1 to a low of 36 59
' feet below msl in MW-3 Groundwater levels have risen an average of 3 23 feet since the last
monitoring event on October 30, 1995 Groundwater monitoring data are summanzed in Table
1
' The groundwater flow direction and gradient have remained relatively constant since the last
monitoring event in October 1995 One exception to this trend is the groundwater measurement
' for MW-3 Groundwater levels in MW-3 did not rise as much as those in surrounding wells
resulting in a groundwater surface depression around MW-3 These groundwater flow
' characteristics are illustrated on the groundwater surface map (Figure 2) Excluding the
measurement recorded in MW-3, the maximum groundwater gradient was calculated at 0 006
' ft/ft in an easterly airection
