GROUNDWATER SAMPLING AND ANALYSES
' Each monitoring well was purged of at feast three well volumes using a decontaminated
submersible pump Sample Information Forms documenting well monitoring, purging and
sampling data are included as Attachment 1
' Groundwater samples were collected from the five wells using a Teflon sampling bailer, packed
in an iced cooler, and transported under Cham-of-Custody manifest to Sparger Technologies,
' Inc , a California-certified analytical laboratory located in Sacramento, California The laboratory
analyzed each field sample for benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, xylenes (BTEX) and Total
Petroleum Hydrocarbons as gasoline (TPHg) using EPA Method 8015/8020 The laboratory
reports and chain-of-custody documents are included as Attachment 2
' Benzene was detected in two wells (MW-2 and MW-3) The concentration and distribution of
benzene in groundwater has remained relatively constant since the previous sampling event in
October 1995 Concentrations of toluene and xylenes were detected in low concentrations in
MW-2 Ethylbenzene and TPHg were not detected in any of the wells The current and
historical laboratory results are summarized in Table 2
1
