t
[., INTERNATIONAL `r
TECHNOLOGY ;- - ?
CORPORATION Pr I: 23
August 2, 1995
i -
Mr. Harlin Knoll
San Joaquin County
Public Health Services
Environmental Health Division
P.O. Box 2009
Stockton, CA 95201
Re: Quarterly Monitoring Report - Third Quarter 1995
San Joaquin Catholic Cemetery
k Harding Way and Cemetery Lane, Stockton, California.
Dear Mr. Knoll:
On July 13, 1995 groundwater monitoring and sampling was performed at the above-referenced
site. The site is located approximately one mile north of downtown Stockton, California (Figure
Monitoring Well (MW)-4 was not available for sampling because it had been covered by soils
generated during cemetery operations. On July 25, 1995, MW-4 was located using metal
detection equipment and depth-to-groundwater measurements were then re-taken in all five
monitoring wells.
The depth-to-groundwater at the site ranged from 55.81 to 56.95 feet below ground surface. 1
4 The elevation of the groundwater surface beneath the site ranged from a high of 38.73 feet
below mean sea level (msl) in MW-4 to a low of 38.86 feet below msl in MW-5. Groundwater r
levels have risen an average of 4.15 feet since the last monitoring event on January 27, 1995. 1
t Groundwater monitoring data.are summarized in Table 1.
The groundwater flow direction and gradient have shifted significantly, since the last monitoring
j. event in January 1995. The groundwater surface map (Figure 2) shows the high groundwater
elevation point at MW-4 and elevation contours radiating from the high. The maximum
groundwater gradient was calculated at 0.0017 ft/ft in a northwesterly direction.
Each available monitoring well was purged of at least three well volumes using a decontaminated l
submersible pump. MW-4 was not sampled because it had been buried by soils from cemetery 1
operations. Sample Information Forms documenting well monitoring, purging and sampling data
R are included as Attachment 1.
Regional Office
10461 Old Placerville Road, Suite 110• Sacramento, Califomia.95827-2522. 916-361-7673• FAX, 916-361-3047 '
J
IT Corporation is a wholly owned subsidiary of International Technology Corporation
f
