2.0 SCOPE OF WORK
' The objectives of the protect scope of work were to survey any possible sensitive receptors in
the site vicinity, evaluate the effectiveness of the remediation system, and to monitor the plume
1 of impacted groundwater To achieve these objectives, Ramage Environmental conducted a
sensitive receptor surrey, supervised the drilling of confirmation soil borings, and monitored and
sampled the groundwater monitoring well network
21 Planning and Permitting
The confirmation soil boring scope of work was completed according to Ramage
Environmental's Letter Work Plan, CPT Confirmation Soil and Groundwater Sampling, dated
April 24, 2000 On May 19, 2000, PHS/EHD approved the work plan A copy of the work plan
approval is included in Appendix B
Based on field observations during drilling, PHSIEHD directed Ramage Environmental to extend
the CPT borings from 100 to 125 feet In addition, PHSIEHD directed Ramage Environmental to
continue quarterly groundwater monitoring of all nine on-site wells and the irrigation well (Well
#2) A copy Ramage Environmental's Confirmation of Regulatory Directives letter, dated
September 4, 2000, is also included in Appendix B
On July 27, 2000, PHSIEHD approved the permit to drill the confirmation soil borings A copy of
the permit (SR#0023560) is also included in Appendix B
Prior to initiating fieldwork, a site-specific health and safety plan was prepared according to 29
CFR 1910 120 The health and safety plan included safety procedures, chemical hazard
information, site safety officers, and preferred medical emergency locations At least two
working days prior to drilling, PHSIEHD and Underground Service Alert (USA) were notified so
that regulatory and utility clearance inspections could be scheduled
22 Sensitive Receptor Survey
To evaluate possible health and safety impacts from petroleum hydrocarbon compounds in soil
and groundwater beneath the site, Ramage Environmental surveyed potential sensitive
receptors within 2,000-feet of the site (site vicinity) The survey included a review of water well
completion reports at the California Department of Water Resources (DWR), contact with the
Stockton East Water District and California Water Service, and a tour of the site vicinity
5
