absorption spectroscopy after each treatment cycle and only discharge to the city sewer if
analyses meet POTW permit conditions.
SAMPLING METHODS
Samples will be collected from each of the two alodizing rinse waters and the water scrubber
unit. These locations are from each source which make up the aqueous solutions requiring
treatment. A coliwasa tube will be used to obtain representative samples from each of the 3
locations. After treatment, samples will be taken from the chromium treatment system discharge
tank. A coliwasa tube will also be used to collect these samples.
FREQUENCY OF ANALYSIS
Analysis at the point of discharge will be initially conducted to determine the proper tier
category under the tiered permitting system and periodically, unless there is a change to the
process, at which time analysis of the affected source will be conducted. After treatment,
analysis of the treated water will be initially collected from the chromium treatment system
discharge tank and chromium analysis performed by a certified lab. After the initial analysis by
a certified lab, all future samples will be analyzed for chromium by AASC's lab using Atomic
Absoprtion Spectroscopy prior to discharge to the city sewer.
